Pilot consisted of the three people in the beginning, Ian joined a little later. They made their debut
with this single. Do you know that there are two versions of "JUST A SMILE"? One is the 74 version
(arranged by Andrew Powell, contained in the first album, the EMI best album and A side of the single
released in 74), the other is 75 version (arranged by Billy Lyall, contained in C5 best album and
A side of the single issued in 75). The remarkable difference between them are chorus, backing and the way of ending.

Their biggest hit in the US. It is said that David wrote this tune when he was a milkman. B side is
a non album track. Now it can be heard on the best CD for Collectables. An excellent song .

Ian joined them. It took only two weeks for this song to be a chart topper in England. But didn't sell
in the States so much. My great Pilot friend Masami always laments their misfortune and says, "It
crushed Pilot." When January comes, this tune is heard in England even now. The title of Dutch issue
is written in Dutch and the Peruvian is in Spanish. It's interesting.
