パイロットは

1974年から77年にかけてイギリスで活動し、4枚の
アルバムと12枚のシングルを残しています。
メンバーは David Paton, Ian Bairnson, Billy Lyall,
Stuart Tosh というスコットランド出身の4人の
ミュージシャンで、パイロットとして沢山の素敵な
ポップ・ソングを残してくれました。 Magic, January,
Just a Smile, Call Me Round等の曲に覚えのある方も
多いのではないでしょうか？彼らは揃って素晴らしい
才能の持ち主でした。その後もセッション・マンとして
引っ張りだこであることからしても、それは明らかです。
なのに、彼らが正当な評価を受けているとは今に至るも
思えません。時はアイドル全盛時代、ただもう時代が
悪かったのです。世間は彼らの爽やかな外見しか
見なかった。かく言う私もその一人でした。私が彼らの
音楽ときちんと向き合ったのは1993年の夏、
パイロットが消えてから実に16年後の事でした。
その時、リアルタイムで聴ける立場にありながら、
世評に惑わされて自分の耳で判断しようとしなかった
己が愚かしさに天を仰いだものでした。
彼らの音楽が正当に評価される事を願って
このページを作っていきます。

PILOT is

a great pop band from Scotland(1974-1977) whose members
are David Paton, Ian Bairnson, Billy Lyall
and Stuart Tosh. They recorded 12 singles and 4 albums.
Most of you must have remembered their wonderful
tunes include Magic, January, Call Me Round,
Just a Smile...to name a few. Yes, they left
many catchy and attractive tunes. Everyone of them
is a real gifted musician. You can easily understand
the fact through their works after the PILOT days.
But what rotten luck, it was the time when the teeny-bopper
movement was at its peak in the mid 70s.
People didn't appreciate their talent behind the pretty faces.
I was no exception. I came to know Masami in 1993. It was not
until then that I noticed their true worth. She has been
one of the devoted Japanese PILOT fans since
their early days. The music cassette she gave me has
completely changed my life. The introduction of the first song
captivated my heart. It was Get Up and Go.
They had a right music at the wrong time.

PILOT must be valued highly.
It's my whole hearted ambition.
